Baltimore Man prosecuted for firearm in school zone

Possessing a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school zone is a federal offense.

The ATF has announced a Baltimore man has pleaded guilty and the suggested deal includes a sentence of two years in federal prison.

According to the guilty plea deal, on September 12, 2021, Baltimore Police officers received a call for an armed person at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Cumberland Avenues in Baltimore.

The person was carrying a gun, wearing a white construction hat and orange safety vest, and riding a bicycle.  An officer saw the grip of a firearm in the suspect’s waistband and recovered a.40 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number, loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. During the arrest, after the Miranda rights, several spontaneous, incriminating statements were made by the suspect.

The sentencing is scheduled for March 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
