It’s another firearms debate question: Are you a Grease or Oil Guy?
Ask anyone involved with firearms and you can get a hot debate, but in this article, we’ll hear from none other than legendary shooter Jerry Miculek as to which one he prefers and why.

Personally, I’m a fan of both as each can be beneficial depending on the circumstance here are a couple of examples:

Weather:
If you’re in a hot or very cold environment some oils may not protect your firearm as they can actually change consistency. We’ll have a video on that soon. (many oils and greases have a wide operating temperature range)

Mechanics:
Jerry points out key places where grease would perform better than most any gun oil.

In my case, you’ll find in some high-wear areas of a firearm I definitely use a little grease while in most areas that I clean regularly I’d use a light coat of oil.

Well, Jerry didn’t say he doesn’t use gun oil, I’m going to assume he may use both, but we’ll revisit this and let you know when we hear from the man himself.

What oil or grease do you use?
