Along with cautioning beginners to not do crazy things like trying to spin a loaded gun cause they saw it on TV..

One of the important safety rules that is many times not mentioned is:

“Never try to catch a falling gun, let it drop!”

Today just about all guns made in the past decade are considered “Drop Safe” meaning if they are dropped they will not fire!

Old original guns like wild west guns are many times not drop safe and if the gun is loaded, then lands on the hammer it’s possible the gun will fire. It’s unlikely to land that way but it is  possible. However you still should never try to catch it!

The reason being is during the fall it’s possible for your finger to somehow hit the trigger and cause the gun to fire in an unknown direction!

So although it’s a strong reflex to try and catch your new beautiful whatever model gun that’s dropped… PLEASE do not do it!
